  • EquineEd: Featuring Fernanda Camargo

    Saturday, November 01 – Saturday, November 01, 2025
    12:30PM – 01:00PM
    Visitor’s Center

Join us for an exciting EquineEd event on November 1st featuring Fernanda Camargo
This seminar explores the biomechanical interaction between horse and rider with a focus on the principles of movement, balance, and load distribution. Participants will gain an understanding of how rider asymmetry, posture, and cue affect equine locomotion. The session bridges science and practice to enhance both horse welfare and rider effectiveness.
Dr. Fernanda Camargo is a life-long equestrian, veterinarian, and professor at the University of Kentucky. In her role, she oversees, coordinates and provides leadership for the 4-H Horse Program in Kentucky, teaches Equine Health and Disease, and does research in the field of horse-related injuries in collaboration with UK HealthCare, to understand the associations between riding styles, experience levels, and outcomes, with the goal of promoting safer practices in equestrian sports. She is an avid rider and advocate of horse welfare, and believes that the majority of horse-related accidents can be prevented with education.
The EquineEd event will take place in the Kentucky Horse Park Visitor Center on Saturday, November 1st, at 12:30 pm. As always, the lectures are FREE and open to the public.
